Dear DCAD Community,

Thank you, Judith and Joly, for addressing this matter in accordance with the IGF Code of Conduct and ensuring that our mailing list remains a respectful, inclusive, and professional space for all members.

The IGF community thrives on collaborative and constructive engagement, and personal attacks or inflammatory language have no place in our discussions. I appreciate the IGF Secretariat’s swift action in upholding these principles.

As we move forward, I urge all members to continue fostering a culture of respect and cooperation, ensuring that this platform remains a safe and welcoming environment for discussions on accessibility and digital inclusion. Disagreements are a natural part of any policy dialogue, but they must be expressed professionally and respectfully.

I also take this opportunity to express my enthusiasm for the important work ahead, including the upcoming release of the next version of our Accessibility Guidelines and the DCAD Fellowship program for IGF 2025, call for which will be announced soon.

Additionally, the IGF 2025 Call for Proposals should be opening soon. I strongly encourage DCAD members to submit proposals focusing on digital accessibility, disability inclusion, and user empowerment. DCAD is ready to support members in developing and refining their proposals, so please feel free to reach out with your ideas. We look forward to seeing strong accessibility-related sessions at IGF 2025.

Given the compressed timeline for IGF 2025 in June, I encourage all members to actively engage and contribute to these initiatives.

Best regards,
Dr. Muhammad Shabbir

Subject: [DCAD] Update==IGF Code of Conduct Information and Violation Incident

Dear All,

Recently, Peter Kayanga violated the IGF Code of Conduct with his defamatory message on the email listserve. The IGF secretariat has a zero tolerance policy towards individuals who violate the code of conduct and have instructed us to remove Peter from the DCAD mailing list. We have done so. He will not be allowed to rejoin and may also be restricted from participating in any other IGF event. The IGF takes these infractions very seriously.

As a reminder, all participants on this mailing list are bound by the <https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-code-of-conduct> IGF Code of Conduct, which can be found here, https://www.intgovforum.org/en/content/igf-code-of-conduct The code of conduct requires everyone to be respectful and constructive communication at all times. Personal attacks and inflammatory language have no place in this community and undermine our collective efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion.

As we continue our work in advancing digital accessibility, I kindly request that all members maintain a professional tone and focus on constructive dialogue. This ensures that the mailing list remains a safe and inclusive space for all.

We look forward to another year of working together. We will shortly be publishing the next version of our Accessibility Guidelines. Moreover, we will shortly be in touch in the next few weeks with a call for disability fellows for the IGF 2025. This year we are on an extremely compressed schedule as the IGF will occur in late June 2025 instead of in December.

Best Regards,

Judith Hellerstein

DCAD Co-Coordinator
