Dear all,
Many thanks Nicodemus for sharing Kenya's IGF experience.
In Uganda, the Internet Society Uganda Chapter (ISOC UG) hosted its 13th
national Uganda Internet Governance Forum, 2024 on *02 August 2024* in
Kampala, Uganda. It took place under the theme of *"Building a
Multi-Stakeholder Digital Future for Uganda"*.
The Forum was a culmination of week-long activities ; i) The Uganda School
of Internet Governance (USIG) which targeted policy makers, law enforcement
officials and academia, ii) The Uganda Youth Internet Governance Forum
(UYIGF) targeted young men and women below 30 years of age., iii) The
inaugural Uganda Parliamentary Internet Governance Forum (UPIGF) brought
together Members of Parliament especially those that constitute the ICT
committee finally iv) Uganda Internet Governance Forum (UIGF) which
brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, private
sector, members of parliament, Internet service providers and end users.
For the UIGF, we had two sign language interpreters from Uganda Sign
Language Association who took turns to do the sign language interpretation.
It was a deliberate effort on inclusion as guided by the DCAD accessibility
guidelines. As we plan to host the East Africa Internet Governance Forum
(EAIGF) from Sept 11-12, we have already procured the services of the sign
language interpreters and chosen a venue that is accessible to Persons with
Disability. We shall also have language translation service for those who
will need them.
As a country chapter, we continue to be deliberate on inclusive
accessibility and participation for all.
*Kind regards*
