<p>I joined this list very recently so I have just been observing. <br>

<p>In Jamaica our Data Protection Act has only recently taken
effect. I am interested in the discussion as a person with a
disability as well as from the viewpoint of someone who has some
responsibility for managing personal data which has been
collected. I am very keen to hear about issues relating to data
protection which would require special attention as they relate to
persons with disabilities.</p>

language should be used, although I agree with Lidia that it
may simplify things for all of us to arrange to use English as
a common language for communication on the list. In the Code
of Conduct there is emphasis on respect, tolerance and
fairness. Since I have spent the last 16 years (the first IGF
I attended was Hyderabad in 2008) in an "IGF" context, and the
16 before that in a regional (Latin America and the Caribbean)
context working on issues of multilingualism and
accessibility, this issue of languages is very important to
me. If you think about it it's very important to all of us
since if it's not managed properly it may deprive us of our
rights to speak, and to be heard.</div>
<div>There is also another issue here. We're missing a great
opportunity.</div>
<div>Over the last 5 years or so the DCAD list has come alive
once a year to deal with Fellowships for the IGF. Then it goes
silent until next year.</div>
<div>This year plenty of DCAD members have expressed an interest
in a proposed workshop on Disability and Data Protection. We
won't all go to Riyadh, we won't all even manage to
participate virtually, but everyone who responded is "here" on
the DCAD list.</div>
<div>So why is this workshop so interesting? Do you have fears
or challenges about data protection? Do you have good ideas
for improving data protection? If we choose we can share our
knowledge and ideas now, on the DCAD list, help each other and
possibly provide a useful resource for this interesting
workshop.</div>

languages - Arabic, Chinese, English, French,
Russian, and Spanish.

Nations is English. <br>

Usually we address everyone using the same
format. Since it is a group email, when someone
is addressed as Doctor we don’t know who they
are referring to, we really need to have a
meeting ASAP to discuss the UN protocols.<br>
