Dear DCAD Members,
I am Suvarna Raj, an international para-athlete, social worker, access auditor and passionate disability rights activist. For many years, I have dedicated my efforts towards creating a more inclusive India, championing accessibility in public and private spaces, and advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities (PwDs). I have conducted over 600 access audits under the Accessible India Campaign across India, and I have been actively involved in pushing for accessible railway and airlines as well as accessible elections for PwDs. I am also honored to serve as the Brand Ambassador for Accessible Elections 2024, appointed by the Election Commission of India. My work, both nationally and internationally, is deeply rooted in the vision of a society where everyone, regardless of ability, can thrive with dignity and equal opportunity.

It is my honor and privilege to inform you that I was awarded the United Nations SDG Action Award as a Changemaker on October 29, 2024, in Rome, Italy. This prestigious global recognition was awarded to only three finalists from over 5,500 applicants across 190 countries, highlighting our collective work in furthering the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As the first divyang woman to receive this award, I am proud to represent our nation's commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and empowerment of persons with disabilities on the international stage.

 I am passionate about how together we can create lasting change for people with disabilities.
