Subject: [DCAD] New IGF Disclaimer / Logo rules
The following is an extract from the summary of the DCCG April Meeting.
IV. Use of IGF logo
It was reported that the Secretariat had given to understand that there was more flexibility with the use of the IGF logo. While DCs are not entitled to use the UN emblem or the letters UN, they are free to use the IGF logo provided they include a disclaimer on their website clarifying that the views are only the views of the DC concerned, not of the IGF.
Key Points Raised
* It was felt that it is important to clarify the relationship of Ds with the UN. A better explanation would be that DCs operate under the IGF, which has been convened by the UN Secretary-General.
Next Steps
* The Secretariat will publish clear instructions on the IGF website to minimize any ambiguity regarding the use of the IGF logo.
Accordingly a disclaimer has been added on the DCAD website. https://igf-dcad.org/disclaimer/ (available under 'about' on the top menu)
Currently, the UN logo is nowhere (to my knowledge) used on the IGF-DCAD website or documents. The IGF logo also does not appear on the website, but may appear on some documents e.g. past event transcripts, posters.etc. When they appear.,the clear instructions will be complied with to the best of our ability,
Joly
